Sekhukhune United head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has spoken about the return of midfielder Shaun Mogaila to competitive action after a four months absence.
The player is currently facing charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving and fleeing the scene at a fatal car accident that claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl and leaving two others seriously injured in October last year.
The 29-year-old was initially released on bail and his case has been postponed to May for further investigations after he made his second appearance in court two weeks ago.
Seema started Mogaila in Babina Noko’s 4-2 League win over AmaZulu at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday and he played a full 90 minutes.
Asked if the selection was an indication of the club’s support to the player, the coach said yes and that the former Royal AM man needed time and support adding he was pleased with his performance on the night.
“He is a player that has been registered to us and, of course, he had an unfortunate incident that happened and the team gave him support and time to deal with it,” replied Seema when asked by iDiski Times about the player’s return.
“And now he’s back, and we are happy with the first game after a long time and we are happy with the contribution that he did. And yeah, look, he is the player that we know.
“The only thing that we are doing is that we put that behind our back of course and then we try to give him support so that he can continue working for the team.
“Definitely the team has been supporting him you can see the way he’s playing. Yeah it was very unfortunate, it can happen to anyone of us but he needed support he needed time of which he was given time.
“Now it’s time for him to go back and then try also to clear his mind with something that he is doing he’s liking and let’s see. I’m happy with the performance after a long time the way he came.”
