Orlando Pirates will claim the bragging rights in this weekend’s Betway Premiership Soweto Derby encounter, according to Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe.
The biggest fixture on the South African football calendar takes centre stage at the iconic FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon as families, friends and fans reignite their rivalry for 90 minutes.
The Buccaneers have been on song this campaign in all competitions having reached the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League, the last 16 round of the Nedbank Cup and are closely behind Mamelodi Sundowns in the league.
Chiefs on the other hand have experienced indifferent results and only have the Ke Yona Cup to salvage their almost 10-year trophy drought while they still have an outside chance of challenging for the league title.
In his candid chat with Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified, Mohafe reckons that Jose Riveiro’s charges will be favourites to come away with maximum points on the afternoon.
“As far as the derby this weekend, Kaizer Chiefs has resurrected and are winning games,” he said.
“Orlando Pirates have also been consistently winning games.
