Monare – From The First Day I Knew Rele Would Be A Star

Sekhukhune United midfielder Thabang Monare says he knew from the first day he saw Relebohile Mofokeng at training that the youngster was going to be a big deal.

The two played together at Orlando Pirates before Monare’s departure and since then the 20-year-old has become a household name with his performances for both club and country.

Mofokeng has also attracted attention from outside the country, with many believing this current campaign could be his last in the Premier Soccer League.

Monare told iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 191 of the newspaper that Mofokeng is pure talent sharpened by the coaching he receives and that he couldn’t be prouder of how far the winger has come.

“You have no idea,” Monare told iDiski Times.

“You have no idea but I’d say talent is an understatement – Rele is a gift. As soon as he stepped on the field and I watched him train with us I knew that there is no stopping him.

“He is natural. He is just like that. Whatever he has no one taught him, that’s all he knows. He was born like that.

“I think he is at the right club, he has the right coach and I think that’s why he is getting better every single game.

“And now that he is in the national team and he is doing well, you know the next step could be Europe, a big club in Europe. I’m really proud of that man, very proud.”
