Cape Town City are in advanced talks with former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Thulani Serero and are set to snap him up on a free.
Four days ago, this publication reported that ‘Cream’ returned to South Africa after over a decade playing abroad and was training with the Citizens in the hope of securing a deal that would see him return to the Mother City for the first time since he left for Ajax Amsterdam in 2012.
The 34-year-old has been sweating it out under the watchful eye of interim head coach Muhsin Ertugral and his technical team and looks set to reunite with his former boss John Comitis.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder played for Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) before leaving South Africa for the Netherlands, and his relationship with City chairman Comitis comes a long way, while he also has a good relationship with Ertugral.
iDiski Times made a follow-up enquiry and has been reliably informed that Serero is in the final stages of talks with City, as they are set to sign him as a free agent following his exit at Khor Fakkan.Â

Should they agree, Serero is expected to bring his experience to the youthful City outfit and help them to at least finish in the CAF inter-club spot.
