Motupa Opens Up On Baroka Struggles & Massive Weight Loss

New Magesi FC striker Gift Motupa has opened up about what happened between him and former club Baroka FC, as well as shedding a few kilos ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Motupa re-joined his boyhood club in February 2024 after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns, with the hope of helping them gain promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The reunion was however not a success as he featured for just 20 minutes for Bakgakga.

The 29-year-old has since signed for new Betway Premiership side Dikwena Tsa Meetse, and he told iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in the latest edition, 167, of the newspaper that he made a premature decision finding a club after leaving Sundowns but that he has no beef with Baroka.

“There was nothing wrong that happened at Baroka,” Motupa told iDiski Times.

“There were no beefs, nothing happened that time. It’s just that I felt after the termination with Sundowns, I needed some time to refresh my mind so that when I come back, I’m cleaner and fresher.”

Motupa adds that he is in a better head space now and appreciates time to shed off some weight before the new season kicks off.

“Very good,” added the former Orlando Pirates man.

“Very, very good. So many kilos lost and the good part is that we still have another month to work harder to make sure that when the season starts I’m fitter and ready for all the games we are going to play.”
