Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango reckons that the club winning two “unofficial” cups helps refresh the confidence of fringe players.
Amakhosi defeated Marumo Gallants to win the CUFA Cup in Bloemfontein in October and were also crowned the champions of the inaugural Home of legends Cup two weekends ago beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.

The 27-year-old told the media that players aren’t taking winning the said cups for granted as it was a chance for those not enjoying game time, to remind the coach of their quality and hopes the players’ performances in those events will inspire rotation in the squad.
“Of course, those two cups that we’ve played, that we’ve won, brings about fresh of confidence within the guys, you know, especially the guys that are not playing as regularly as the others,” Msimango told the media.

“It gives them that boost to say you know what we are still here to show the coach that we also deserve to be picked. And I think from those cups we draw a lot of confidence from them because it is against professional teams that are there to compete as well.
“And I feel like, you know, our performances there, really are helping us a lot to see where we are as professionals.
“You know, the game time that we didn’t get in the league phase and we’re getting in those Cup games really helps a lot. And I’m sure maybe you may see a lot of rotations from the coach, giving players who did well in the cup, you know in the league game.
“And yeah, everyone will see for themselves that the quality within the team is still there.”
