Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has insisted his 37th minute substitution of Pule Mmodi was not tactical.
Amakhosi lost 4-1 to Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport United on Tuesday, with Matsatsantsa completing the double over Nabi’s men.
The Tunisian mentor already hooked Mmodi off after 37 minutes with many left wondering about the change for Mduduzi Shabalala when the score was 1-2.
Nabi explained he could see his winger was not on top of his game, but he could’ve changed six other players as well on a bad day for his troops.
“It was not necessarily a tactical change,” he said after the match.
“We noticed that most of the players were not in the game. If I had the chance to substitute six or seven players, I could have done it.

“I could see that Mmodi has given a lot in the previous game and today already in the early minutes I could see that he was not in the game and he was tired.
“But as I said, if I could change six or seven players, I would’ve done so.”
Chiefs only return to action on 1 March, when they will face Mamelodi Sundowns.
