Nabi Fumes At Journalist – Don’t Provoke Me

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says he’s too experienced to be questioned about his credentials for the job and stated from day one it was stated this will be a transition season for a project.

With Chiefs languishing in ninth place, and the original target of getting back into the CAF inter-club qualification spot, a lot rests on the Nedbank Cup final after their 2-1 loss to Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Nabi has come under increasing pressure in his role, with the record standing at 12 losses, six draws and eight wins in 26 games played so far but in the final of the domestic cup.

“Normally I wouldn’t answer this question but today I will… secondly I don’t think you are the right man to decide if I’m staying or not, my role and why I am here, everyone knows this is a process and in terms of process we can’t be reacting or expect immediate results,” Nabi said when asked if he’s the right man for the job.

“You are professional journalist, you will have information of this club, this club plays for the title, this one plays for the Champions League, this one for whatever… I came here for the process, we said this in the first press conference, this is transition season.

‘If you are in process, you don’t tell me why you stay here – two things you are not professional but I respect you, don’t provoke me because I’m not a young coach, I have big experience – I know what you’re asking, don’t provoke me.”

Nabi further went on to state that it’s not professional to question whether he is suitable for his role after the defeat.

“You have a bad result, why you stay here, this is not professional [to ask], talk to me about tactics, about football process, I’m not nervous, I respect you,” he stated.

“I tell you my assistant, normally I don’t answer this question… I repeat if you are professional you will know how to evaluate this process, we have a process for evaluation.”
