Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has insisted the club’s fans have the right to be frustrated if results are not forthcoming, as criticism is part of football.
Amakhosi had gone through a spell of just two wins in nine games, and parts of the fanbase started to turn against the Tunisian mentor, but he could breathe a sigh of relief after his side beat Stellenbosch FC 2-1.
After the match, Nabi addressed the fans’ right to criticise him but also insisted some of the critical voices may have a different agenda behind being vocal.
“We have to respect our fans and their feelings,” he stated.
“Because in every club when the results are not there, the fans are not happy, they are frustrated.
“Everyone has the right to say something, it’s our job to be realistic and to know what we want to do.
“The criticism is part of the football. You get criticised today, and tomorrow you can be the hero if you win, you do something very good.
“That’s why you need to accept every criticism. I’ve worked in big clubs and I’m well aware of the pressure and everything that comes with a big fan base.
“But my job is to assess and to work towards the objective of the club.
“We believe our fans have the right to be frustrated when the results are not there.
“But we have to have understand as well, and to be careful [because] sometimes we might think it’s our fans and supporters but it’s the agenda of other people who don’t want the process to continue to succeed or the club to succeed.”
