Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has thanked his management for securing Thabo Cele and Glody Lilepo after they made their debuts in the Soweto Derby.
The newly signed duo came off the bench early into the second half and showed glimpses of quality, but Amakhosi fell at the final few seconds, conceding a penalty in second-half stoppage time.
Parick Maswganyi netted a panenka penalty to add salt to the wounds as Nabi and his technical team lost their first derby since their arrival in South Africa.
But reflecting on the two debutants, Nabi was pleased with their contribution to the game.
“I believe that for the time they were on the field, they showed some good quality, but you must understand they only trained for four days after long trips from Europe,” Nabi said after the game in response to iDiski Times question.

“They weren’t training regularly before they came, but the few minutes they played you can see there’s quality so we’re happy for the players who came on – so thank you to the management for those signings.”
Chiefs now turn their attention to AmaZulu on Tuesday evening at the Calabash (19h30).
