Nabi On Mashiane Chances After ‘TT’ Exit

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says Happy Mashiane will get a chance to cement his place in the team after an impressive display against Chippa United.

The 27-year-old has been on the periphery of the Chiefs squad for a good couple of seasons and looked to be heading out the exit door upon Nabi’s arrival.

Bradley Cross and Bongani Sam were signed to bolster their options at left-back while Thatayaone Ditlhokwe became the regular in the position over the last two months.

However, the exit of the Botswana international has now offered Mashiane a reprieve and potential to fight his way back into contention, as ‘TT” and Sibongiseni Mthethwa has managed to achieve this season under Nabi’s guidance.

“It’s a good analysis [about the players you mentioned], just add someone like Mmodi but I say that now the number of players is big, in terms of quantity and quality,” he said when asked by iDiski Times if Mashiane can follow the traits of Ox and TT this season.

“And now it’s concurrence, two or three players in each position. The concurrence is going to be hard, anyone who plays is the one who will keep their consistence in training and playing.

“Happy Mashiane hasn’t played in a while and his tempo wasn’t always there, he’s very good offensively.”

Mashiane has featured 66 times for Amakhosi with four goals and four assists to his name since graduating from the club’s academy system.
