Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says they’ve identified some AmaZulu weaknesses they want to exploit on Wednesday but also had to overcome the challenge of another 11-day gap between games.
Despite it being the end of September, Amakhosi have only played in one competitive game this season so far, the 2-1 comeback win over Marumo Gallants.
On Wednesday, Chiefs are back in action and will face Pablo Franco’s Usuthu, with both coaches knowing each other from their time in Tanzania.
“I know him, he is my friend and in Tanzania he was one of the best coaches and he is someone whose ability I respect, so we will se how it turns out. I hope everyone will enjoy the contest,” Nabi told Chiefs’ media team.
The Tunisian mentor also admitted preparation has been difficult, as there was another long gap between Wednesday’s match and their previous game 11 days ago.
“The turnaround times between matches can present challenges. If you have more than one week’s rest between games you can lose something,” he added.
“But our fitness coaches have been working hard to get the players in the best possible shape to perform at a high level.
“Our preparation has been good. We have watched the previous game of our opponents, AmaZulu, and analysed the strengths of the team and some areas where we believe they have weaknesses that we can exploit.”
