Nabi – What I Told Chiefs Players At Half-Time

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi was not entirely satisfied with the players’ psychological side in the second period despite his half-time team talk for them to keep probing for a second goal.

Amakhosi finally ended their rut of going five league matches without a win by securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday afternoon courtesy of Mduduzi Shabalala’s solo effort on the stroke of half-time.

“The first half was good. We played with a team that decided to play in a low block looking for a transition or counter-attack,” Nabi said via his assistant Cedric Kaze.

“It wasn’t easy to find spaces but believe that before the goal there was two opportunities created and as well we control the game the whole first half. And we scored at the end of the first half.

“At half-time we emphasized on the players that we need to keep pushing to try and score the second goal, but we feel like when they came back, ‘You know when someone plays the game or drives the car with the handbrake on’, you don’t really advance, you don’t really go back.

“Probably it’s a psychological thing because the last games were not very positive on our side, conceding goals the last minute.

“And we feel that was the reason not to have a good second half.

“But today we gonna retain the three points and we hope to build from that.”
