Magesi FC captain Elvis Chipezeze says they can’t sit around and mope about the exit of Clinton Larsen as they need to find solutions to climb out the relegation zone.
Larsen cemented his name into the history books of the club by steering them to retain their second-tier status, win the Motsepe Foundation Champions the next season and then win the Carling Knockout title in their debut top-flight season.
He announced his resignation to the public after their Carling Cup defeat to the All Stars and has now been replaced with veteran coach, Owen da Gama at the helm of the Limpopo-based outfit.
Larsen was a popular figure in the squad as he revived several careers and overacheived with many players who were outcasted in South African football, including the Zimbabwe international goalkeeper.
“It was difficult obviously but as players, we have a job to do, and as much as things aren’t going well this past month since we won the cup, we have tried so hard to make things right but it’s only a phase, it’s football,” Chipezeze said.

“We just need to keep going, try to work as hard as we can so we can get that luck and things will fall into place in no time.”
Chipezeze who won four Man of the Match awards en route to winning their first-ever domestic cup competition this season says the squad need to buck up their ideas, and fast, starting with TS Galaxy in their first game of 2025.
“We can no longer be talking about who has left, we talking about the now and right now we are rock bottom in the league and we need to come out of the hole,” he said.
“It needs us to put our heads together, try to find solutions so we can try to find ourselves out the situation we’re in now, it’s going to take hard work, we know it’s going to be tough, but starting in the new year, away from home against TS Galaxy.
“We must put in the work, we can’t say it will be alright without putting in the work, it would be pointless, so it’s hard work until the season ends.”
