Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has explained why the club didn’t sign another striker this window, despite him publicly stating he was in the market for another goalscorer.
Chiefs started the 2024/25 campaign with two wins from three games, only losing the third to Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, the team looks revived, with Ranga Chivaviro scoring two goals this campaign already.
Nabi, though, insisted he is still in the market for another striker but it’s difficult to find quality forwards in Africa because the best players are already with the top clubs.
“Honestly, the market in Africa is very, very short,” he said after the defeat to Downs.
“You have maybe 3, 4, 5 good strikers but all the big clubs in Africa started the war for taking them – like Esperance, Al Ahly and Zamalek.
“The market in Africa is not very rich [on strikers] in this moment.
“In October we don’t play, we have November and December and 1 January the window opens.
“I need three months to scout for the quality I need and thank you for the owners, for the committee because they’ve given me an open budget for that but I don’t want waste the money.
“It’s not the responsibility of the coach.”
Chiefs only return to action on 26 October when they will face SuperSport United in the league. They then have six league games until the January window opens.
