Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Ricardo Nascimento has announced his retirement from football.
Nascimento, 37, had a blossoming football career when he came to South Africa in July 2016, joining Sundowns right after they won the CAF Champions League.
The Brazilian defender quickly secured the CAF Super Cup with the Tshwane giants a few months after signing.
Since then he never looked back, as he won five league titles, one Nedbank Cup, one MTN8 title and one Telkom Knockout trophy at Chloorkop.
The 37-year-old left Sundowns at the beginning of the 2022/23 season, and joined Royal AM mid-season but only stayed there for five months.
He joined his home team, Rio Branco which competes fourth tier of the São Paulo State Football League. Nascimento’s last game was on Sunday where he clinched the A4 Series title with Branco.
