Orlando Pirates interim coach Mandla Ncikazi did not seem too pleased with the turnout for their final home game eSgodini and declined to comment on squad depth and possible incomings and departures.
Jose Riveiro’s post era saw the Buccaneers being held to a 1-1 draw by TS Galaxy with former Bucs midfielder Mpho Mvelase scoring a late equaliser for the visitors at a rather empty Orlando Stadium.
Ncikazi took over the reins following the Spaniard mentor’s early contract release with reports emerging that he will take over from Marcel Koller at Al Ahly, and the former Golden Arrows reckoned maybe the supporters were still unhappy with how Riveiro left.
“I can’t be sure, the coach had a big impact in the club,” Ncikazi responded on questions regarding the disappointing low turnout.
“But I thought they would use maybe this game [against TS Galaxy] as a way of celebrating his success and stay at the club, but how people respond to disappointment and such happenings is different.
“And unfortunately, I don’t have the capacity to measure that. It could be a possibility.”
With regards to if the club will bring in new additions or use youngsters when needs arise to complement experience, Ncikazi said:
“I’m not sure if I’m relevantly the right person who can respond,” he added.
“I think there’s a lot of assessment that gets done at the end of the season and I’m sure the wisdom that prevails in our club, if they see a need after analyses of possessions, contracts and a lot of other things, they’ll make the right decisions.
“But currently I think it would be jumping the gun if I were to respond in saying, ‘This one is right, this one we have to sign or not sign.’
“There’s a lot of reports to be submitted, and after that analysis and assessment, I think the relevant decisions will be taken.”
