Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has identified Cape Town City as a tough opponent with new energy from their new coach ahead of this evening’s clash.
Pirates travel to the Mother City for the second time this season but for a three-points battle this time around. Early in the season Pirates faced City at Athlone Stadium in the MTN8 semi-final first leg and were held to a 1-1 draw.
Cape Town hasn’t been a good place to visit for Pirates in the past few years as they’ve only won once in 10 meetings, even so, they will look for inspiration from their 2-0 win last season when Tshegofatso Mabasa scored a brace.
With City led by Muhsin Ertugral following the exit of Eric Tinkler, Ncikazi believes that new energy and new tactics will give the Cape Town-based side something to lean on but emphasized that as Pirates they look for three points.
“It’s another opportunity for our team to get three points, not an easy game,” Ncikazi told Pirates media.
“There’s a very experienced coach, new tactics, and new energy from the opponents, big motivation from their previous results but one thing good with our team is that we just focus on our next match, try and improve our performance.

“The best of us should get three points for us against Cape Town City,” Ncikazi said.
