Mamelodi Sundowns winger Siyanda Ndlovu has broken his silence on his dramatic move to the Brazilians after he was initially expected to join Orlando Pirates.
The 23-year-old completed a surprise switch to Sundowns ahead of the new season after appearing set to sign for the Buccaneers. However, the move to Pirates fell through at the eleventh hour.
Ndlovu revealed that he had travelled to Johannesburg with the intention of joining Pirates, but the process dragged on for several days.
He was eventually instructed by his former club, Golden Arrows, to report to Sundowns instead.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Ndlovu has no regrets about joining the Tshwane giants, explaining that his ambition was always to play for one of South Africa’s “big three” clubs.
“I came to join Pirates, how it changed? I don’t know but I found myself at Sundowns,” Ndlovu told Victor Molefe on Ukhozi FM, as translated from Zulu.
“I won’t tell you but what happened is my boss at Golden Arrows told me that we’re going to sign with Sundowns now. But I don’t know what happened.
“I came here Wednesday and the time went on until Monday with things uncertain, and then I ended up at Sundowns.
“I didn’t have a problem with what happened because I wanted to play for one of the big three clubs.”
Ndlovu has made an impressive start to life at Sundowns, turning heads with his performances in the six matches he has played across all competitions.
