Kaizer Chiefs‘ latest signing Inácio Miguel has chosen to don the number 83 shirt previously worn by Amakhosi’s former tough-tackling defender Morgan Gould.
The 28-year-old Angolan centre-back was announced as Chiefs’ latest signing on Wednesday afternoon from Petro de Luanda on a three-year deal said to be in the region of R3.5-million.
Miguel’s arrival brings the number of new signings at the club to five following the additions of Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, Bongani Sam and Gaston Sirino.
In picking number 83, Miguel will have added pressure on his shoulders to emulate Gould who enjoyed a successful stay at Naturena after joining them from SuperSport United in 2012. He won the Betway Premiership title in his debut season before claiming league and cup double (Betway Premiership & MTN8) in 2014/15. In 2016, Gould made a return to Matsatsantsa.
Last season, Miguel made 23 appearances for the Girabola outfit across all competitions scoring three times and won the domestic double (Angolan Champion & Angolan Super Cup) after just one season with Luanda upon his arrival from Liepaja in the Latvian top-flight.
He has been capped five times by the Angola national team since 2020.
