Cape Town City have announced the exit of nine players after their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
City suffered relegation after failing to win any of their games during the Premier Soccer League playoffs, which saw Orbit College gain promotion.
There have been rumours that John Comitis tried to buy a new Betway Premiership status, but without success so far.
In the meantime, City have parted ways with several senior players in the squad, including Fortune Makaringe, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Haashim Domingo and goalkeeper Darren Keet.
“Cape Town City can confirm the departure of the following players who’ve worn the badge with pride and represented the club with heart,” the club stated.
“Each player leaves with our deepest thanks for the dedication and professionalism they showed during their years at the club.
“We wish them nothing but success in the next chapter of their journey.”
All players whose exits were confirmed:
- Thabo Nodada
- Thami Mkhize
- Darwin Gonzalez
- Darren Keet
- Lorenzo Gordinho
- Fortune Makaringe
- Haashim Domingo
- Elson Sithole
- Kamohelo Mokotjo
Meanwhile, iDiski Times have learnt that City have also offered four of their young players – namely Emile Witbooi, Shakeel April, Jaedin Rhodes and Jody Ah Shene – to Mamelodi Sundowns in a deal estimated to be worth R60 million.
