Official: Gallants Announce New Coach After Kerr Exit

Marumo Gallants have announced the return of Dan Malesela as their head coach hours after Dylan Kerr resigned from the position on Tuesday.

Malesela was a free agent after parting ways with Baroka FC in May. This will be his third stint with Gallants who made a return to South Africa’s topflight league after buying the status of Moroka Swallows.

Twenty-eight days ago Kerr’s return was announced, however disagreements over the coaching structures which would include a co-coaching system and other management processes saw him resign before the new season even started. Kerr is in the latest edition of iDiski Times where he hinted some of the challenges at the club.

Meanwhile, the last time Malesela was with Gallants was in January 2023 when he along with then technical director Harris Choeu were put on a special leave when the results weren’t coming in the league and ironically was replaced by the UK born Kerr.

In a statement Bahlabane ba ntwa said they went with Malesela because of experience his proven track record at the club. The club further revealed they will be launching their season in Bloemfontein this week.

“Marumo Gallants Football Club announces the appointment of Dan Malesela as the club’s new Head Coach. The appointment comes as part of Gallants efforts to strengthen the technical team and address delays in finalizing the squad for the upcoming season,” the club stated.

“Meanwhile, following disagreements with the management team regarding the co-coaching structure and other management processes, Coach Dylan Kerr has resigned with immediate effect.”
