Marumo Gallants have secured the services of highly-rated Belgian-Moroccan head coach Jamil Benouahi as the successor of Alexandre Lafitte.
Gallants have officially parted ways with 28-year-old Frenchman after his short suspension, amidst a poor run of results and have now turned to the former ASFAR and USM Alger coach to turn their season around.
Sources have confirmed he’s received his necessary paperwork, started training the senior first team squad and has been entrusted to lead the team until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Benouahi has not hid his desire in the past to work in South African football as the next stage of his career, having been impressed by the country when he took charge of the Botola Pro club in the CAF Champions League – when they faced Mamelodi Sundowns in the group stages.

Gallants have shown in the past, their intelligent appointments, having previously lured Abdeslam Ouaddou to the country before he made a move to Orlando Pirates – where he’s quickly established himself as one of the leading coaches in the country.
Benouahi will be aiming to have a similar impact, given his experience in African football and development football, with the backing of a UEFA Pro License as well.
