Riveiro Confirms Arrival Of New Coach

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has confirmed that Carlos Nodar Paz has joined the club’s Strength and Conditioning department.

The countryman of Riveiro previously worked with the Pirates head coach at Celta de Vigo, but then also had stints in Asia with East Bengal in India and Wuhan Three Town in China.

Nodar Paz joined the Buccaneers from the 2022 Chinese Super League champions, whom he joined in 2021 and worked as Physical coach and assistant.

During today’s press conference, Riveiro confirmed his arrival ahead of the 2024/25 season.

“Carlos is a guy that I know since a long time ago. We’ve had the opportunity to work together in Celta de Vigo in 2010 till 2014,” he replied when asked by iDiski Times whether Nodar Paz holds a double role as Physical coach and assistant like in his previous club.

“He has a lot of expertise and capacities. Right now he’s part of the Strength and Conditioning department and he’s doing a little bit of physio in that part of the coaching staff.”

Orlando Pirates legend Lucky Lekgwathi welcomes Carlos Nodar Paz (Instagram).

Pirates have turned their attention to their CAF Champions League first preliminary round second leg against Disciples from Madagascar, and will need a home win at Orlando Stadium on Friday after drawing the first leg 0-0 away from home.
