Petersen Targets Silverware After Chiefs Extension

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is targeting silverware after his contract was recently extended by the club.

Petersen, 29, was one of thre players who signed new two-year deals with the club, the others being Bruce Bvuma and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.

The keeper was initialy given the number one spot by Molefi Ntseki at the start to the season, but was later dropped from the starting line-up, with Itumeleng Khune initially returning before Bvuma got the nod in the last four games before the DStv Premiership break.

The former Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits goalkeeper has kept four clean sheets in 11 appearances, while conceding 10 goals in the current campaign.

Petersen was pleased to see his stay at Natuerna extended and has admitted the team are keen to reward the faith of their fans by finally ending the club’s nine-year trophy drought.

“I’m happy to continue my great journey with Kaizer Chiefs,” Petersen told Kaizer Chiefs media.

“We need to keep working hard as a collective so we can reward the Chairman and the millions of supporters who fill us stadiums every week to see us play by bringing some silverware to Naturena.”

Chiefs return to action on Sunday when they will face Royal AM in KwaZulu-Natal at 15:30.
