Newly-crowned Nedbank Cup champions Orlando Pirates have confirmed the departure of Cameroon striker Souaibou Marou.
The 23-year-old Marou made just nine appearances for the Buccaneers since joining them from Coton Sport FC in January 2023. He made seven DStv Premiership (all from the bench) and two CAF Champions League outings (one start; one sub), but failed to find the back of the net in all those matches, and also provided no assists.
Pirates announced via club statement that Marou is now a free agent and keen to join a club of his choice. He was still contracted to the club until June 2025.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm the departure of striker Souaibou Marou,” the club statement read.
“The Cameroonian, who joined us at the beginning of the season is free to join a club of his choice.
“We would like to wish Souiabou all the best in his future endeavours.”
The Cameroonian international was a member of the Indomitable Lions’ World Cup squad in Qatar in 2022. He has been capped three times by the national team, with one goal to his name.
