Orlando Pirates duo Sipho Chaine and Azola Matrose are nearing first-team returns after extended spells on the sidelines due to injury.
Chiane assumed the number one goalkeeper spot ahead of Ghana captain Richard Ofori and South Africa international Melusi Buthlezi before his injury in the Carling Knockout.
The 27-year-old has often been lauded by head coach Jose Riveiro for his ability to orchestrate attacks and his communication skills with his defence.
In his 33 games for the club since his surprise move from Chippa United, he’s kept 12 clean sheets and conceded 23 goals but now faces stiff competition to return to the starting XI.
“Sipho Chaine and forward Azola Matrose among those back in training after lengthy spells on the sidelines,” the club stated on their official website.
The 20-year-old winger, Matrose, has yet to make his debut for the club from Chippa, having arrived with an ankle injury.
Patrick Maswanganyi has also returned from suspension while Innocent Maela returned to action last week.
