Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has bagged a new sponsorship deal with Under Armour.
The full endorsement deal was announced during an event at the Waterfront in Cape Town on Wednesday morning, where Mabasa expressed his excitement about the new partnership.
“To be a part of this brand, it means a lot to me and it actually shows where my career has began and where it’s going,”
“This is a step in the right direction for me, for my career, wanting to help to build the brand, making it even bigger than it actually is, especially in football aspect of things in the country.
“Hopefully I can play my part in doing that. And that is through performing in this wonderful gear that I’ll be wearing.”
Mabasa also added that he wants to use this new partnership to take part in community activations and help to build brand awareness and inspire the next generation.
“It is my role and responsibility as a professional athlete in the country to try and motivate the generation,” he added.
“And hopefully with the backing of Under Armour, I’ll be able to do that.”
Under Armour brand manager Megan Rich explained why they have teamed up with the Pirates forward: “We’re super excited to have Tshego on board. He is at the pinnacle of his career and we want to be part of that journey.
“The aspiration that he kind of has, to lead the youth in the communities to a really aspiring, sporting environment, is really where we feel we want to grow with him.
“As a younger brand in the market, I think it’s really exciting.”
The Pirates striker has scored 13 goals in all competitions in 2024/25.
