Pirates Thrash Gallants With Eight In Orlando

Orlando Pirates romped to a 8-1 win over Marumo Gallants in their Betway Premiership match at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

It was a game that was halted due to heavy rain after just three minutes but it couldn’t prevent the thrashing Gallants received, literally from the first minute of the game.

Deon Hotto forced an own goal from Kenneth Nthatheni as he deflected his cross into Washington Arubi’s net and that was the start of something special.

Not to be denied by Gabadinho Mhango netting against his former side and taking the game into the break at 1-1, the floodgates opened in the second half.

Tshegofatso Mabasa netted a hattrick, Deano van Rooyen and Boitumelo Radiopane with their first goals for the club, and Thalente Mbatha with a stunning brace to hand the Ghost and early Christmas present at eSgodini.

It significantly improved their goal difference against Sundowns, who secured a last minute 1-0 win over AmaZulu earlier in the day, who have a three point lead at the top, albeit having played one game more.
