Durban City interim coach Pitso Dladla has reflected on his flawless start since stepping in following the departure of Sinethemba Badela.

Dladla, assisted by Ashraf Hendricks and Rowen Fernández, assumed control after Badela left the club shortly after overseeing three matches since his December appointment.

Under Dladla’s guidance, the team has secured two Betway Premiership victories and one Nedbank Cup win, keeping clean sheets in all three encounters.

He credited the goalkeeper, a disciplined backline and a collective team effort for their impressive defensive record.

“We’re stingy with Darren Keet there, Jalai, Gcaba, Terrence, Ncanana, Mkhize, all our defenders are doing a great job,” said Dladla.

“They are also complemented by players like Poggenpoel, Athini Jodwana, Kyle Jurgens, it’s a collective effort. That’s the main purpose for us.

“We’re stingy in terms of giving goals away and it’s working. But at the end of the day, once you lose possession, everybody becomes a defender.

“We also defend from the top.”

City have a tough encounter at home on Wednesday, 4 March, when they host Sekhukhune United at Chatsworth Stadium.
