CR Belouizdad head coach Sead Ramovic says if there’s Premier Soccer League interest in Khanyisa Mayo it shows the player is still developing well in Algeria.
Mayo, 26, joined CRB in the off-season in a record transfer for the Algerian giants and has endured a season of mixed results with six goals in 38 appearances as he looks to grapple with a completely different style of play in the North African region.
From featuring as a nine, winger and in the 10 role, he showed glimpses of his quality, but as reported by iDiski Times previously, Mayo was subject of interest of a return to South Africa, with Kaizer Chiefs.
While that interest has seemingly died down, with Chiefs perusing alternative targets, Ramovic ahead of the final game of the Ligue 1 season, where they are still in contention for the title – shows Mayo has still done enough to attract suitors.
“Mayo has been impressive – full of energy and creative flair. If the PSL or Chiefs shows interest, I see that as a sign of our player development working well,” he said.
“My aim is to help players grow, whether they stay or progress to new challenges – they leave better versions of themselves.”
Mayo will be looking to help Belouizdad win the league next week, but they need current leaders and reigning champions MC Alger to slip up against a side fighting to retain their top-flight status.
