Ramovic Frustrated After Spurning Major Opportunity

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic says their lack of consistency to move within the top three is frustrating but admits it’s not their realistic goal for the season.

Galaxy, currently in eighth place with 12 points in 10 games, could have moved into fifth, five points off then-second-placed Golden Arrows.

However, they were on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat against SuperSport United in Mbombela which saw them miss the chance to make it two wins from two after an impressive victory over Sekhukhune United this past weekend.

“First of all, I would like to say our players are with the people of Palestine, this is the most important thing,” Ramovic told iDiski Times.

“The next thing, we had a great game but with some small mistakes which we need to analyse and do better [with] in the next games. We played against a tough team, we know they play with long balls, a lot of crosses and second balls.

“I think we dealt with it and we were leading but then some small mistakes we conceded again when we just had a fantastic chance to make it 3-1 before they equalised. But it was great save [from Goss] – after that we had chances to make it 3-3 but again fantastic saves so I need to give my team credit, they did the best they could.

Ramovic admitted it will be a challenge to now dust themselves off for three games in six days but they will target ‘a great recovery’ to be prepared for the ‘very tough game against a tough opponent’ in the Carling Knockout quarter-final on Saturday afternoon.

However, what was more evident, is that they’ve struggled to put consistent results together, as a squad, who lost seven first-team players to ‘bigger’ clubs in the league in the off-season.

The likes of Bathusi Abuaas, Given Msimango were key figures that ventured to the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs respective;y.

“I absolutely agree with you, for me, it’s really tough, I want to be up [in the league], I want to go up, and it was great opportunity to do this today,” Ramovic said about missing the chance to shoot up close to the top-three.

“But in life, the sun doesn’t always shine, there’s rain too and you need to come back stronger, learn about mistakes we did, analyse together and the season is long, it’s a marathon, we have a lot of games in front of us.

“We have to believe in ourselves because we’re a tough team to beat – all in all I also believe in the end we’ll reach our goal in the top eight spot.”
