Ramovic Taunts Rulani After Raja Rumours

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has taunted “his special friend” after he was linked with a move to Raja Club Athletic, which would mean a revival of his rivalry with Rulani Mokwena.

The latter joined Wydad Club Athletic as head coach after his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns, starting a new project to awaken the sleeping giant in Morocco.

While Wydad finished 2023/24 in fifth place, Casablanca rivals Raja won the Botola Pro unbeaten under Josef Zinnbauer, and topped their Invincible campaign with a double after beating Nasreddine Nabi’s ASFAR in the Throne Cup final.

However, former Orlando Pirates coach has attracted interest in Saudi Arabia and is close to joining Al-Wehda, as reported by iDiski Times.

With Zinnbauer set to depart, Raja have identified Ramovic as potential replacement for the German tactician, which could revive the rivalry between the German-born coach and Mokwena.

“I think I should not leave because I heard the interview from my special friend Rulani [Mokwena], that the players started to cry, the kids cried and the wives also cried,” he said after his side’s 2-2 draw with Mbabanane Swallows in the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup.

“So I don’t want to leave because if I leave the players will probably also cry, the Sundowns players. And then the kids are crying and then the wives are crying.

“And I don’t want to do this, because they cried a lot because of Rulani.”

Earlier on Saturday, TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi had given Ramovic his blessings to move onto to greener pastures, should Raja really want The Rockets coach.

But Ramovic wasn’t keen on discussing a potential move to Morocco when asked whether he’d want to face Mokwena again in Morocco.

“I’m the head coach of this beautiful club, TS Galaxy and this is the whole focus, whole concentration, I’m not thinking at all about anything else,” he added.

“I’m here, I’m the coach of this great team. We want to improve, too, we want to get ready for the first game.”

Meanwhile, FC Augsburg beat Young Africans SC 2-1 in the earlier kick-off,
with the Bundesliga side and Galaxy facing each other next week Saturday.
