Marumo Gallants interim coach Raymond Mdaka admits having a goalscorer like Ranga Chivaviro in their team breeds confidence around the squad atfter he netted his first career hat-trick in the DStv Premiership.
Chivaviro, 30, converted twice from the spot before scoring a spectacular third in the second half to take his goal tally to nine in the 2022/23 league campaign.
The former Baroka FC man is now among the league’s top goal-scorers, behind Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile who has 11 goals, and Bradley Grobler who has scored 10.
The win also pushed Bahalabane ba ntwa out of the relegation zone to 14th on the log with 27 points.
Mdaka says Chivaviro always has a goal in him, while extending praises to the whole team saying their strength lies in the time they have been together.
“If I’m not mistaken he is on eight or nine [goals]. You see these are the kind of players that when you have them upfront there, you always believe that at any given moment if anything comes you can get a goal,” Mdaka said after the game.
“So it gives us courage if you have those kinds of players in a game. And I think he did very well I’m happy for him
“It might not be happening every time and everywhere but sometimes when you have players who have been together for some time and worked together, they make it easy for the technical team because they know each other, they understand each other.
“They know how to use each other. They know how to play for each other so it makes it a bit easy because if you have got somebody new, sometimes it will take time. In this situation even if he was such an excellent player it would be difficult for us.”
Overall Chivaviro has scored 14 goals in all competitions with five in six games leading Gallants to the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals.
