Red-hot Lucas Ribeiro Costa is committed to Mamelodi Sundowns‘ and fully focussed on the club’s targets this season, especially the CAF Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup, his agent told this publication.
The 26-year-old joined Sundowns from SK Beveren in July 2023 and has since become one of the key players in Masandawana’s squad.

This season, he looks primed to be named PSL Footballer of the Season, often standing above the rest of the players on the field, having scored 14 goals and assisted six in 19 Betway Premiership appearances.
Even his coach Miguel Cardoso has recently stated that although he wants to work with the Brazilian as long as possible, he seems destined for a move to Europe or another higher profile league at some point.
His representative, who is known as ‘A. Driss’, has revealed he has had many enquiries about Costa, but the player is fully committed to the club and their targets this season.

“The immediate goals right now is the CAF Champions League, and Club World Cup for now and after that we will see what happens, but for now that is the only thing on Lucas’ mind, to do as best as he can to win for Sundowns,” he told iDiski Times.
“He’s happy in South Africa, who can’t see what happens in the future, he is really committed to helping Sundowns win the Champions League and compete at the FIFA Club World Cup. Now is not the time to think about his future, it’s not the end of his career.
“As you can imagine, for a player like Lucas, my phone has been ringing non-stop this season but what is important is for Lucas to be happy, to play at a club that suits him, that wins trophies and he is so happy to be here at Sundowns, even yesterday he said the same thing.”
