Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has lauded Karim Kimvudi as a ‘complete player’ after he made his debut for the club against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 21-year-old DR Congo playmaker joined Pirates in the off-season after suffering relegation with Maritzburg United.
Despite not scoring for the Team of Choice, he was one of the standout young talents in the league with five assists in 34 games across all competitions last season.
And it took until match day seven in the league for the Buccaneers supporters to finally see him in action, which brought many of them off their seats with his natural flair.
“I’m happy for Karim’s debut, he’s been working well, going through a period of adaptation to the team and to the methodology and everything,” Riveiro said.
“He’s much more ready to help us. I’m happy, if it’s true what you say [he changed the game] I think he contributed in the last minutes. He did what we asked him to do.
“He’s a very complete player. Physical, and technical, he can create some chaos in different places and he did it well, but obviously, we can’t build an opinion on Karim on 10, or 15 minutes when you’re chasing a goal when everything is chaotic on the field.
“There’s going to be games when he’s going to have the chance to show the type of player he is – and I’m sure that he’s going to do well in the future.”
Kimvuidi will now be targeting to feature against Stellenbosch this weekend when Pirates host them for the second leg MTN8 semi-final where the Soweto giants hold a 2-1 lead.
