Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro was full of praise for goalscorers Monnapule Saleng and Thabiso Lebitso after their 3-2 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby.
The Buccaneers had to come from behind twice to beat their bitter rivals, with Saleng and Lebitso equalising two first-half goals by Ashley du Preez.
Saleng then netted Pirates’ third to bring home their first double since 2009. After the match, Riveiro hailed the performances of both his goalscorers.
“Both really outstanding performances today,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“Scoring goals in aderby, they are going straight to the books. I’m so happy for both for different reasons.
“Thabiso is an excellenct guy working hard to make it possible to play for Pirates.
“Saleng is doing everything in order to be Saleng again and it looks like he’s coming back.”
The win saw Pirates move to second place with 33 points, while Chiefs stayed in sixth with 29 points.
