Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says his team did not play well enough to deserve an equaliser against Sekhukhune United.
The Buccaneers dropped three crucial points at home, which saw Mamelodi Sundowns go 12 points clear on the log, with Pirates having two games in hand.
Riveiro wasn’t happy that his side conceded from another set-piece but also admitted they didn’t have much of an answer to Tresor Tshibwabwa’s opener.
“It was a game before the goal and a game after the goal perhaps,” the Spaniard said on SuperSport TV.
“Game under control, I think the game was close for us, it looked the goal was coming and in a corner kick, in a situation that should be under control they managed to get the lead.
“After that we didn’t react well. We were disorganised with not much ideas. Maybe I’m wrong but the keeper only made one save in the first half, we didn’t manage to have shots on target or not enough. That’s why the 1-0.
“I think the game was coming for us before the goal, but after the goal we didn’t play well enough to deserve the equaliser.”
Pirates will now turn their attention to bragging rights in back-to-back Soweto Derbies against rivals Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday and the following week.
