PSL All-Stars head coach Jose Riveiro has credited his charges for creating an unforgettable two-day experience following their 2024 Carling Black Label Cup final triumph this past weekend.
The Spanish mentor was in the dugout eSgodini as he witnessed the All Stars side ran riot over Magesi FC with a resounding 3-0 victory courtesy of Kaizer Chiefs sensational duo Naledi Hlongwane’s brace and Samkelo Zwane’s solitary strike.
Speaking in media presence, Riveiro said his charges were awarded for their efforts at the end of the day because of how they executed the match.
“It was an excellent first-half performance,” Riveiro told the media.
“We came in really connected with the task and creating chances early in the game and getting a lot of control on the ball.
“I think we had a really high percentage of possession in the first 45 minutes.
“Pretty much really effective in front of the goal. We got a fantastic lead nice, nice and early to give us a chance to control a little bit more of the tempo in the second half.
“We played a little bit lower tempo in the second 45 minutes. Two, three chances to increase the lead. We increased the advantage.
“But overall, I think it was a fantastic day, a perfect day for the players. They have actually all the credit to be the ones that are lifting the trophy today.
“You can understand, we try to help them as coaches but in the space of two days there’s not so much time to make an impact.
“But they managed together to create a team to have a good spirit with professionalism, with ambition and with good football.
