Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has hailed his Mamelodi Sundowns counterpart Ronwen Williams as the best in the world and that he deserves his Ballon D’or Yachin Trophy nomination.
Williams enjoyed an outstanding 2023/24 season with both club and country. The 32-year-old played an overall 46 matches, conceded 19 goals while keeping 30 clean sheets for the Brazilians. He was also a key player for Bafana Bafana at the AFCON earlier this year. He kept five clean sheets in seven games at the tournament where Bafana finished third including the famous four penalties saves against Cape Verde.

Talking to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 173 of the newspaper, Nwabali said he was not surprised to see Williams counted amongst the best because he has been really good.
“I really see Ronwen Williams and not because we are in the same league,” the Nigerian told iDiski Times.
“But I really see him as the best goalkeeper in the world. He really inspires me with how he plays, and I’m not surprised to see him on the list of nominees of the best goalkeepers in the world.
“Ronwen Williams did really well and not only at the AFCON but at club level as well.”
