The Premier Soccer League executive committee have recommended the cancellation of the membership of Royal AM, with the league set to finish with 15 teams.
The club has been severely impacted after the South African Tax and Revenue Service raided the houses and seized luxury cars of President Shauwn Mkhize over an alleged R40 million tax debt.
The club has also been hit by a FIFA transfer ban over the outstanding payment of Samir Nurkovic, who the club owes R15 million in salaries (plus interest).
In addition, the club failed to pay their players and staff in November in December, with MaMkhize stating the club was currently taken over by SARS, which resulted in the cancellation of their fixtures.
The club had been put up for sale by SARS, and a potential new owner had come to the fore, however, failed to pay the required deposit in time.
As a consequence, the PSL executive now met again on the matter and opted to “recommend the cancellation of the membership of Royal AM” via a circular sent to it’s members as on Wednesday and seen by iDiski Times.

The matter is set to be discussed on 10 April with the Board of Governors – all PSL member clubs – which will then ratify the decision.
If confirmed, the league would finish with 15 instead of 16 teams and all of the 11 games played by Royal AM will be nullified, meaning those points would be deducted from teams who picked up wins or draws.
