Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has given an update on Teboho Mokoena after he left the field with an injury immediately after scoring against Moroka Swallows.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder played his 46th match since the start of the season last night, including 12 for Bafana Bafana.
Mokoena scored another cracker far from outside the 18-yard area but immediately after that he asked to be taken off and he was holding his leg muscle.
Mokwena gave an update on the midfield maestro, as it left Downs supporters concerned ahead of the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg at ES Tunis on Saturday.
“No, no, he felt a small twerk and I’m very proud of him – once you feel something small, out! You have to and don’t take risks,” Mokwena told the media.
“He scored a good goal and he could’ve celebrated and continued to play because you know the feel-good hormones take over the pain but he was professional enough to say ‘I’ve got something’, I’m very proud of him for that.”
Sundowns will leave South Africa later on Tuesday for Tunis and have three days to prepare for the most important clash against the four-time CAF Champions League winners.
