While league leaders Magesi and Cape Town City will only play on Monday evening, wins for Lerumo Lions and Hope FC saw them jump up the log in the Motsepe Foundation Championship table.

On Friday, Real Native fought back from two goals down at home to rescue a 2-2 draw against North West University.

Meanwhile, ORBIT College and Venda Football Club, both still seeking their first win of the season, played to a goalless draw.

Lerumo Lions and Hope FC both picked up good wins on Saturday to move up the table and join Real Native and Cape Town City on 17 points.

In-form Lions, up to second on goal difference, were 3-1 winners at home over AmaTuks, while Hope, despite being reduced to ten men, picked up a 3-0 win on the road against Gomora United to move up to fourth.

The Bees won for just the second time this season, their first since Joel Masutha took over, beating Midlands Wanderers 2-0, while it ended goalless in the Northern Cape derby between Hungry Lions and Upington City,

In Sunday’s only game, Vusumuzi Vilakazi’s Highbury came from a goal down to beat Leicesterford City 2-1, ending a run of five games for the Gqeberha side without a win. Mervin Boji scored a brace to cancel out Mpho Mlangeni’s first-half goal.

Ahead of their match against Cape Town City at Athlone Stadium on Monday, Magesi remain three points clear at the top of the table. A win or draw would see them hold top spot, while a victory for City would see them move ahead of their Limpopo opponents on goal difference.
