Chippa United coach Thabo September admits that his charges face an uphill task ahead of their Betway Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns without Sirgio Kammies who was red carded in their 2-0 loss to SuperSport United.
The Chilli Boys face Sundowns in the first of two league fixtures in Gqeberha on Wednesday in Tshwane looking to cement their place in the top eight as they currently lie in eighth place tied on 30 points with Kaizer Chiefs right behind them.
September says it’s difficult for any team to face Sundowns who are on the cusp on their eighth successive league title.
“Always tough for any team that is in the league against Sundowns,” said September.
“And also, we are not doing ourselves any justice when you lose your regular player Kammies towards the dying minutes of the game and you are going to play Sundowns.
“So yeah, we just prepare for them and listen we have players we are going to prepare for them and try to get a result out of Sundowns.”
Meanwhile, the former SuperSport United man is pleased that at this stage of the campaign, Chippa is where they are calling it a good effort all round from his charges.

“We’ve played six games, we won two, we drew two, these back-to-back leg losses now are the ones that we had,” added September.
“We collected eight points out of a possible 18. We were a relegation team now we are in the top 8. I mean it sounds good for me in terms of progress for the club unless we are Sundowns, we can win 18 out of 18. But we’ve done well, lost against a good SuperSport lost in the dying minutes against Stellenbosch in the 84th minute and that was their only shot on target.
“We drew against Arrows and Chiefs. Congratulations to the players they put in a good season. We are now in the top eight, something that you didn’t think of. We’re in the top eight. After 25 games there’s a possibility of finishing in the top eight.
“So, I sum up a good run all around.”
