Kaizer Chiefs legend Siphiwe Tshabalala has sympathized with Cape Town teams after enduring a tumultuous campaign which saw Cape Town Spurs getting relegated to amateur football while Cape Town City will contest the relegation playoffs.
During a BW Cares soccer schools’ clinics which was held at Idas Valley Sports ground deep in Stellenbosch by Betway in partnership with Premier League giants Manchester City, the ex-Amakhosi & Bafana Bafana midfielder rubbed shoulders with the youngsters giving them a rare opportunity to be with their legend.
Tshabalala who made his name known worldwide after scoring the opening goal in the 2010 FIFA World Cup that was hosted by South Africa also played a huge role in helping Chiefs win several trophies.
Shabba felt for Cape Town teams stating that it will be a huge loss if both teams get relegated, after Spurs got relegated to the ABC Motsepe League while City take on Casric Stars and ORBIT College in the relegation playoffs.
“I won’t dwell much on the negatives. I give respect to both teams, they gave a lot of superstars the platform, and it will be sad to see those teams go down,” Shabba told the media.
“A lot of people they, heavily dependent on those teams to earn a living. And besides that, they were great teams that contributed immensely to our football as well.
“Superstars, come from those teams. So, it will be a sad day if that happens, but Cape Town City, they still have a chance to fight in the playoffs and yeah, I just wish them well.”
