Spurs Coach On Playing Chiefs Without Fans

Cape Town Spurs Technical Director Sean Connor believes playing behind closed doors against Kaizer Chiefs is an advantage but they still have to beat the 11 players that will be on the pitch.

The Urban Warriors registered their first win of the season after defeating Orlando Pirates by 2-1. Spurs’ next encounter is against another Soweto giant side Chiefs.

The Urban Warriors technical director now acting interim coach Connor mentioned that it will be strange and they have a bit of an advantage playing in an empty stadium with Amakhosi.

“Probably against Chiefs it is yeah, it’s probably going to be strange. I don’t know whether they played any games in COVID.

“So it’s probably the last experience the players had, I think, yeah, certainly not going to be a disadvantage as planned behind closed doors,” Connor told iDiskiTimes

“But you still got to beat the 11 people that they put out on the pitch. So a difficult game. But as I say, tonight, we’ve shown that we can be resilient, we’ve shown we can stick to a game plan.

“I think we’re sure we can influence the game off the bench, which is important as well.”

The two sides will lock horns at the Calabash for their DStv Premiership outing on Wednesday evening (19h30).
