Cape Town Spurs are running the risk of losing midfield maestro Khaya Mfecane on a free as he approaches the last six months of his contract.
Mfecane is one of the players who came through Spurs’ development after being promoted in the 2019/20 season when Spurs was still Ajax Cape Town.
The former South Africa junior international can play as a right-back as well as he did under the leadership of coach Ernst Middendorp.
The 23-year-old previously attracted interest from various clubs before, but no deal materialized as no one could meet the Urban Warriors’ asking fee, which was reportedly around R5 million.

This publication has since established that Mfecane will be left with six months in his contract in January 2025, which means he will be open to discussing his future with other teams and could even sign a pre-contract.
Spurs have developed some good players in the past years, and after spending the 2023/24 season in the top-flight league, they’ve lost their key players like Rushwin Dortley, Chumani Butsaka, and Ashley Cupido.
