SuperSport United avoided PSL promotion playoffs after playing to a 1-1 draw against Lamontville Golden Arrows.
After three months since the game was abandoned between SuperSport United and Golden Arrows, this afternoon they resumed with 45 minutes to play with the 1-1 score-line after the game was abandoned at half-time.
United returned to this game, knowing a draw would be enough for them to avoid playoffs after all the league games were wrapped up during the weekend. They moved to 27 points, but the better goal difference (-12) than Cape Town City (-16) meant that they moved above them in the log.
The Tshwane giants showed no real signs of attacking in the 45 minutes, sitting deep in their half with five defenders. Arrows were in control in most of the game and created half chances but failed to beat Ricardo Goss.
This result meant that Cape Town City will be participating in the promotion playoffs alongside Casric Stars and ORBIT College. It remains unclear if the playoffs will go ahead with the case between Durban City, Cape Town Spurs and JDR Stars still on.
