Stellies Make It 19 Unbeaten With Chiefs Scalp

Stellenbosch maintained second place in the DStv Premiership with a 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.

In what was a rather subdued first half in a game that was tipped to light up FNB Stadium, Amakhosi showed no urgency as the side chasing second-placed Stellies.

Five points separated the two sides, with Chiefs having played one game more, but at the final whistle, the Cape Winelands extended the gap to eight points.

Devin Titus scored with virtually last kick of the first half with a dinked finish over Bruce Bvuma which stunned the home side and their supporters into silence at the break,

For what it was. A morale-boosting strike, Stellies ddin’t look to take the game to Chiefs in the second half, seemingly content with their lead.

But Sage Stephens was forced into an excellent save 10 minutes in with the livewire Mduduzi Shabalala, who is still in search of his first of the season was denied.

Not much clear-cut chances were created from either side after, as Steve Barker’s side to a crucial three points back to the Western Cape as their quest for CAF Champions League football continued.
