Stellies Set To Extend Star Midfielder’s Stay

Stellenbosch FC are edging closer to extending the stay of midfielder Genino Palace following a good season with the club.

Palace joined Stellies at the beginning of 2023/24 season from Maritzburg United after they got relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The midfield maestro took time to settle but when he did, he was solid, going on to reach 50 appearances for the Cape Winelands side in December 2024, the 30th player to do so in the club’s history.

The Johannesburg-born was part of the Stellies side that won their first major trophy in topflight football (Carling Knockout Cup) and reached the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final where they lost 1-0 to Simba SC on aggregate this season.

This publication has established that Palace is edging closer on signing a new contract with Stellenbosch though the details of the contract, including its duration, have not yet been disclosed.

The 26-year-old, known for his creative playmaking and technical skills, has been an integral part of Stellenbosch lineup. His new contract reflects the club’s confidence in his abilities and commitment to building a strong team.

This development is a positive sign for Stellenbosch FC, demonstrating the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent and building a strong squad for future challenges.
